LIMA (WLIO) — Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament softball continued with a Division 6 regional semifinal matchup between Lincolnview High School and Patrick Henry High School.
Lincolnview broke through in the third inning after Bella Hire ripped a liner off the base of the left field fence, bringing home Emme Stevens and Lainey Spear for a two-run advantage.
That was all the support sophomore pitcher Ila Hughes needed.
Patrick Henry threatened in the fourth inning with the bases loaded and nobody out, but Hughes responded by striking out the next three batters to keep the Patriots off the board.
The right-hander stayed in control the rest of the way, finishing with 15 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout as the Lancers secured a 2-0 victory.
Lincolnview advances to the regional final and will face Margaretta on Friday at 5 p.m. in Bowling Green.
