LIMA (WLIO) — St. Henry High School used a strong finish to defeat Colonel Crawford High School 7-4 and advance in the Division 6 baseball tournament.
Holding a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Redskins faced a threat with two runners aboard. Owen Zimmerman came through with a swinging strikeout to strand both runners and preserve the advantage heading into the final inning.
Zimmerman then helped his own cause in the top of the seventh. His single to left field scored Drew Langenkamp and extended the lead to 5-3.
St. Henry kept the pressure on moments later when Jake Schwieterman lined an RBI double down the left-field line, bringing home Zimmerman and pushing the lead to 6-3. The Redskins added another run in the inning to take a four-run cushion into the bottom of the seventh.
Colonel Crawford scored once in its final at-bat, but Hudson Schmitz secured the victory when a line drive was caught by Schwieterman for the final out.
St. Henry's 7-4 win sends the Redskins to the Division 6 regional semifinal, where they will face Patrick Henry in Hamler.
