ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) — It was a battle of Delphos at Ed Sandy Field on Thursday as Delphos St. John's Blue Jays took on Delphos Jefferson Wildcats in tournament baseball action.
The Blue Jays got on the board early in the top of the first inning when Drake Fittro beat out a throw to first on a ground ball to shortstop, allowing Cameron Elwer to score and give St. John’s a 1-0 lead.
In the second inning, Cameron Elwer took control on the mound. The Furman basketball commit recorded a pair of swinging strikeouts as part of an eight-strikeout performance.
Later in the inning, Andrew Elwer ripped a two-run double into left field that scored Jackson Wiechart and Tyce McClain to extend the Blue Jays lead to 3-0.
The offense kept rolling for St. John’s later in the game. With the Blue Jays already leading 8-0, Maddox Kroeger drove a ball to right field that brought home both Cameron and Andrew Elwer to make it 10-0.
