LIMA (WLIO) — St. Marys Memorial High School saw its postseason run come to an end Friday with a 6-0 loss to Perkins High School in the Division 4 district championship game at Willard.
Perkins, last season's Division 4 state runner-up, struck first in the opening inning. Talon Walton delivered a hit to deep right field that brought home the game's first run before St. Marys cut down Walton on the bases, with Dyllan Fink applying the tag after a rundown.
The Pirates added to their lead in the second inning when pitcher Kash Koch lined an RBI single up the middle to make it 2-0.
St. Marys battled throughout the afternoon, highlighted by a strong relief appearance from Blake Dingledine, who recorded five strikeouts.
However, Perkins controlled the game from start to finish and completed a no-hitter on the mound to secure the district title.
The Roughriders finish the season with a 16-9 record, while Perkins advances in the Division 4 postseason with the 6-0 victory.
