Wapakoneta’s KJ Simpson becomes program’s first esports signee

WAPAKONETA (WLIO) — Wapakoneta High School celebrated a historic moment as senior KJ Simpson became the program’s first-ever esports signee.
Simpson will continue his career with Team Matrix at Rhodes State College, becoming the first official signing for the school’s esports program, which launched last fall.
He is coming off a standout season, helping lead the Redskins to their first-ever state title in Valorant.
Simpson expressed excitement about the opportunity as he prepares to take the next step at the collegiate level.
