FINDLAY (WLIO) — Legendary University of Findlay football coach Dick Strahm has died at the age of 92.
Strahm guided the Oilers from 1975 through 1998, compiling a 183-64-5 record and building Findlay into one of the premier NAIA football programs in the nation. He led the Oilers to four national championships in 1979, 1992, 1995 and 1997, including the program's only undefeated season at 14-0 in 1997.
A four-time National Coach of the Year and 12-time District 22 Coach of the Year, Strahm also won 13 conference championships and coached 38 All-Americans during his Hall of Fame career.
Strahm was inducted into the University of Findlay Athletic Hall of Fame, the NAIA Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004. In 2023, the university dedicated Dick Strahm Champions Field in honor of the coach whose impact helped shape generations of Oiler football.
