DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) — A Delphos junior is demonstrating school and community pride by dedicating his time and talents to giving back.

“I've seen people throughout my whole life, they give back. I just want to be one of those people that lead a legacy at the school. Really give back. Volunteer my time. See other people succeed,” said Braxton Suever, a 2026 Lee Volunteer Award winner.

Suever credits his family for instilling in him a strong sense of service. Whether working as a little league umpire, participating in the Delphos Jefferson FFA or contributing as a member of the National Honor Society, he takes pride in representing his school.

“You can call it my pride and joy, I guess. I've been here 11 years. Mom's on the school board. Dad's coached many sports throughout here, so it's always nice to give back people, know who I am, put smile on people's faces. I mean, the school means a lot to me,” said Suever.

School leaders say Suever stands out for his commitment and character.

“Braxton Suever is one of those 1% type kids. He's a guy that is the first one to show up. He's the last guy to leave, and it's very easy for us to want to nominate somebody like Braxton. He's a guy that just continues to give back. He's got great parents. They have high expectations for him, just a guy who goes above and beyond, goes the extra mile, cares about his classmates, his teammates, More than himself, and that's what makes him special,” said Jeff Hobbs, superintendent of Delphos City Schools.

Suever has also contributed his skills behind the camera, collaborating on a video highlighting the expansion of Novus Foods. He is now working on a project showcasing the values of each building in the Delphos City School District.

“Delphos is a small town, not, not very big, so it's it's important to give back, without having big cities, big supporters, you need to be able to give back, help the community thrive. Everybody wants to see each other succeed. And I mean without that, you really wouldn't have a small knit community like Delphos,” said Suever.

In addition to his school involvement, Suever volunteers at community events with organizations including the Delphos Eagles, VFW, Optimist and Kiwanis clubs.

“You see people generations, they give back. I feel like you kind of see less and less than that with kids nowadays, it's important to give back. I mean, people sacrifice their time for you. Why not yourself, d o it for the younger generation,” said Suever.

Suever is among the 9 recipients of the 2026 Lee Volunteer Award.
