BLUFFTON, Ohio (WLIO) — A trip to the state semifinals will have to wait after the Division VII regional final between the Ottoville Big Green and the Stryker Panthers was suspended due to court conditions at the Sommer Center.
In the second quarter, Ottoville trailed by five when Briley Wertenberger drove to the basket for the score, cutting the deficit to 19-16 at halftime.
In the second half, Kate Turnwald looked inside and found Kendall Schnipke cutting to the rim for two, but the Big Green continued to play from behind.
Ottoville kept battling in the third quarter. Brooklyn Koester glided to the basket for a layup, but the Big Green still trailed 35-25 heading into the fourth.
Later in the final quarter, Koester pulled up from straightaway and knocked down a three-pointer to keep Ottoville within striking distance.
However, play was eventually delayed due to humidity before being suspended because of moisture on the court.
The game will resume Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Sommer Center with Ottoville trailing 37-31 with 5:44 remaining in the fourth quarter.
