LIMA — Lima Central Catholic remained unbeaten and in firm control of the Northwest Conference Friday night, rolling to a 41-7 victory over Spencerville at Spartan Stadium.
The Thunderbirds, who entered the game undefeated, struck early when Brady Parker ripped off a long run to set up a jet-sweep score by Lausen Flores. Parker later found Michael Quatman down the sideline, and Quatman was hauled down at the 1; one play later Carter Lester punched it in to push the lead.
Spencerville answered with a big defensive play when Grady Smith forced a fumble that the Bearcats recovered, but LCC responded in the second quarter as Flores capped a reverse with a 15-yard touchdown and Parker connected with Quatman on a 29-yard scoring strike to make it 28-0.
The Thunderbirds’ defense helped seal the win, with Kaedyn Wireman recording a sack and the unit holding Spencerville largely in check until a late touchdown. LCC finished with a balanced attack on offense and timely stops on defense.
Lima Central Catholic improved to 8-0 for the first time since 2012, while Spencerville fell in its upset bid.
