TOLEDO, Ohio (WLIO) — Whitmer held off a late comeback attempt by Findlay to secure a narrow 35-33 victory on Friday night in a Northern Lakes League showdown between two of the conference’s top teams.

The Panthers (7-1) led 28-14 midway through the third quarter before Findlay (5-3) began to rally behind quarterback Miles Bailey. Bailey punched in a rushing touchdown to cut into the deficit, then later connected with Carter Imke in the fourth quarter to bring the Trojans within one score.

Trailing 35-27, Bailey struck again, finding Jed Scott for a touchdown following an impressive spin move. But Findlay’s two-point conversion attempt to tie the game came up short, and Whitmer’s defense held on in the final minutes to preserve the win.

With the victory, Whitmer strengthens its position near the top of the NLL standings, while Findlay looks to rebound heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
