BOWLING GREEN (WLIO) — Leipsic is headed back to the state tournament for the second time in program history after a thrilling 6-5 walk-off victory over Montpelier in the Division 7 regional final.
Trailing 5-1 in the sixth inning, the Vikings stormed back behind a pair of RBI hits from Julian Zuniga before tying the game in the seventh. Moments later, John Dewar delivered the game-winning hit down the third base line, allowing Colin Niese to race home with the winning run.
Myles Camareno also made a major impact defensively, throwing out two runners attempting to steal second base.
Leipsic advances to the state semifinals for the first time since 1976 and will face South Webster next Friday.
