COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) — West Central Ohio wrestlers delivered standout performances Saturday during the third day of the state wrestling championships at the Schottenstein Center, with multiple athletes competing for titles and one program making history.

Seven local wrestlers reached championship matches as the finals began. Prior to the competition, several referees were inducted into the state Hall of Fame, including officials from Northwest Ohio.

In Division III, Lima Central Catholic senior Antwain Adams captured the 138-pound state title. Adams, a state runner-up last year, broke open a tight match with a decisive takedown and secured a 7-1 victory.

Moments later, teammate Jordan Neal added another title for Lima Central Catholic. The junior needed just 40 seconds to win the 144-pound championship by pinfall, earning his second consecutive state crown.

The back-to-back victories marked a milestone for Lima Central Catholic, as it is the first time in program history the school has produced state champions in consecutive weight classes.

At 150 pounds, St. John’s senior Edward Kessen, the defending state champion, fell in a hard-fought three-round match, finishing his career as a state runner-up.

In the heavyweight (285-pound) division, Versailles freshman Ben Kaiser edged Indian Lake senior Christopher Timms 4-3.

Kaiser scored an early escape and held on to claim his first state title.

In Division II, Wapakoneta junior Zane Russell earned a runner-up finish at 106 pounds after falling in the championship match.

Benjamin Logan junior Ethan Carpenter also finished as a runner-up at 175 pounds, losing by technical fall.
