LIMA — Shawnee completed a dominant sweep of Kenton at Lappin Gymnasium, taking the match 25-8, 25-9, 25-8 on Tuesday night.
The Indians built their advantage with balanced attack and stingy net defense. In the third set, Chelsea Burkholder set up Gianna Upshaw, and the sophomore hammered a left-side kill to put Shawnee up by three. Burkholder later found Drew Richardson for a kill that extended the lead to 8-2.
Cadence Wilson contributed with a service ace that pushed the margin further, and senior Ja’Lynn Olds added a momentum-killing cross-court spike as Shawnee pulled away. Upshaw finished with multiple late kills to seal the sweep.
Shawnee improved its standing in Western Buckeye League play with the decisive road victory, while Kenton will look to regroup heading into next week.
