Shawnee falls to Mansfield Senior in DIV. III district final

ONTARIO, Ohio (WLIO) — Shawnee Indians traveled an hour and a half to take on the Mansfield Tygers in the Division III district final, while Mansfield made the short 10-minute trip to Ontario High School.
The Tygers built an early lead, forcing Shawnee to play catch-up throughout the second half.
Early in the fourth quarter, Shawnee was down by eight but started to fight back. Trevick Bertke converted a tough shot off the glass for two points.
With six minutes remaining, Beckett Bertke scored on a put-back, cutting the deficit to six. Shawnee continued chipping away, with Beckett Bertke splitting the defense for a basket to make it 58-54 with two minutes left. The Findlay commit had a game-high 26 points.
A minute and 20 seconds to go, Shawnee was still down by six. Trevick Bertke drilled a clutch three-pointer, bringing the Indians within three. The junior finished with 19 points.
In the final seconds, Shawnee fouled, but Mansfield missed both free throws. Shawnee had one last chance to tie, but the shot rimmed out.
Mansfield held on for the 64-61 victory. Shawnee finishes the season 19-6 overall.
