Lima, Ohio - The top two teams in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League saw their highly anticipated matchup halted by weather Tuesday night, with the Grand Lake Mariners leading the Lima Locos 2-0 before play was suspended.
The Mariners entered the game atop the GLSCL standings at 8-1, with the Locos close behind at 7-2. Lima starter Wyatt Dion struck out the side in a scoreless first inning, while Grand Lake's Taylor Seay matched him by fanning two batters during his opening frame.
Grand Lake broke through in the third when GLSCL Player of the Week Matthew Aldridge launched a solo home run over the right-field fence to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead. The Mariners added another run in the fourth as Landon Tiesing delivered an RBI single to score Forrest Day.
The game was postponed with Grand Lake leading 2-0. Play will resume Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Montgomery Field in Celina, with a seven-inning second game scheduled immediately afterward.
