WLIO — Several West Central Ohio golfers secured trips to the state tournament after strong showings at Division III district tournaments on Thursday.
At Stone Ridge Golf Club, Delphos St. John’s, Van Buren and Kalida were among the top four teams to qualify for state. Joining them individually was Crestview’s Mathew Dealey, who made school history by becoming the first boys golfer from Crestview to advance to state. Ottoville’s Evan Altenburger and Riverdale’s Nathan Alge also qualified as individuals.
In the Southwest District at Pipestone Golf Club, only the top two teams and individuals advanced. Botkins captured the district title with a score of 319, while Russia’s Leo Counts carded a 78 to earn his spot at state.
The OHSAA state golf tournaments will be held next week.
