BUTLER (WLIO) — Delphos St. John’s is headed back to the state tournament after defeating Botkins 62-39 in the Division VII regional final at Butler High School.
The Blue Jays built a double-digit lead and continued to control the game in the second half. Andrew Elwer helped extend the advantage with a catch-and-shoot three-pointer in the third quarter.
Botkins stayed within reach for stretches behind Eli Pitts, who finished with 17 points. However, Ohio Mr. Basketball finalist Cameron Elwer led the way for St. John’s with a game-high 26 points, including a key three-pointer that helped keep the Blue Jays comfortably in front.
The win sends Delphos St. John’s to the state tournament for the first time since 2017.
