May 13, 2024, Press Release from the office of Governor Mike DeWine: (COLUMBUS, Ohio)— Today, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and representatives from the Ohio Expo Center & State Fairgrounds broke ground on two buildings to revitalize the fairgrounds in Columbus, the Ohio Showcase Building and the new agriculture building. The projects are part of the long-term master plan recommended by the Expo 2050 Task Force. Governor DeWine created the task force in 2019 to develop a strategic vision for the future of the 360-acre state fairgrounds, which has been home to the Ohio State Fair since 1886. Once constructed, the Ohio Showcase Building will house a food hall and exhibit space to tell the story of Ohio’s people, land, communities, and innovation. The food hall will house six restaurants/vendors that will offer unique regional dishes from throughout Ohio, with ample indoor and outdoor dining space. This building is slated for completion in 2026.

These loans are available to businesses and residents of the counties that were part of the Presidential Disaster Declaration that was made earlier this month. Allen County Fair Manager Troy Elwer gave the Allen County Commissioners an update on the various projects going on. The new maintenance building is nearly complete, and work continues on the new Sheep and Goat Show Arena, which is being paid for by state funding, the county, Mercy Health, and the Allen County Farm Bureau. That building is expected to be completed by mid-June. The restrooms are also being upgraded on the grounds.
May 2, 2024, Press Release from the Office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost: (LONDON, Ohio) — Joined by members of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission and law enforcement officers from across the state, Attorney General Dave Yost gathered today with the families of nine Ohio peace officers who died in the line of duty in recent years to honor the officers and others lost before them. This year’s ceremony paid special tribute to nine Ohio law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty between 2020 and 2023 and one historical honoree. It also marked the public unveiling of a major renovation of the Fallen Officers Memorial Wall, on the grounds of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy in London. Freshly engraved with the names of 836 peace officers dating back to 1832, the 32 panels of polished black granite that form the memorial wall were recently mounted over the wall’s limestone face, preserving the legacy of Ohio’s fallen heroes for generations to come.
