LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Silver Birch Foundation is hosting its annual dinner and auction Thursday night to raise funds and continue its mission.
The foundation, in conjunction with the Area Agency on Aging 3, assists older adults who have been victims of crime or abuse, including physical and sexual abuse, financial exploitation and abandonment.
Funds raised through dinner tickets, raffles and auctions allow Silver Birch to provide a range of services to victims, including emergency home relocation, home modifications, bill payments and groceries.
Over the past eight years, the foundation has raised thousands of dollars through the annual event.
"The dinner and auction has been a fantastic fundraiser for us. We've actually raised, over the last 8 years, $250,000, and that helped well over 300 people in our local community with things like housing and rent and utilities and things that can be quite costly if you've lost everything," says Jacqi Lucke, CEO, Area Agency on Aging 3.
Organizers say those unable to attend can still contribute by donating through the Silver Birch Foundation’s website.
