LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Mercy Health–St. Rita’s Medical Center is inviting the public to a Healthy Block Party this Saturday.
The medical center has again teamed up with the Central Lima Neighborhood Association and Activate Allen County for the “Here’s to Your Health” Block Party. Organizers say the event offers an opportunity to meet neighbors and register for services residents may not have known were available.
Resources at the event will include medical providers and screenings, financial services and a food distribution. The block party will be held at Reading Park, in the 900 block of West North Street, making it centrally located for many residents.
“Not everybody has access to get to providers, to get to resources. So this event really is in the heart of downtown Lima area, and is in walking distance of a lot of different neighborhoods and it all. It puts it all in one spot,” said Catherine Lusky, community health coordinator at Mercy Health–St. Rita’s.
In conjunction with the block party, a “Bike Rodeo” will be held across from Reading Park, where youngsters can learn proper safety signals and bike-riding techniques to stay safe while on their bikes.
