SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WLIO) - A bit of a scare at an Allen County childcare and preschool center Friday morning.
Firefighters called out to the Shawnee Weekday Early Learning Center for a small fire in the back of the building. It was traced back to an attic fan and quickly put out. Fire officials say they had water on the fan just three minutes after they were called.
There were no injuries, and staff had the tough job of trying to get dozens of toddlers out of the building and to safety as quickly as possible.
"Pre-planning is so important; the Shawnee Township Fire Department goes to area buildings and helps them with their fire evacuation plan, and the staff did a great job getting 100 small children out of the building and to their secondary spot," said Chief Austin Miller of the Shawnee Township Fire Department.

Elite Drone Services helped out by sending up a thermal unit to look for hot spots. The early learning center was shut down for the rest of the day.
