ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Holiday gift-giving turned out in a big way on Wednesday for two local organizations.
Woof Boom Radio's 92.1 The Frog held their Christmas Care-a-Van on Tuesday in partnership with Allen County Children Services. The Care-a-Van dropped off all the donated items on Wednesday morning at the Allen County Children Services building with some helping hands to unload the large donation from the Lima community. Both groups are proud to step up and provide for the children in the area during the holiday season and know what it means to the children to give back.
"I think that we're going to see such joy with these children, knowing that no matter what the circumstances of the family, that every child gets to experience that Christmas or holiday joy," said Sarah Newland, executive director for Allen County Children Services. "It's just a wonderful thing to see."
"You know like everybody else, the goal is to make the season as meaningful as possible, and if we can get past all the flash and glitter of it and actually help kids - that's the goal, to help kids have as happy a Christmas as they can," said Dave Woodward, on-air personality for Woof Boom Radio. "Kids hear about Santa Claus, they hear about the presents under the tree, but for a lot of kids that's not a reality, and so we want to hopefully help make that happen."
This was the 5th year for The Frog's Christmas Care-a-Van, and the van was completely packed full of bags, both large and small. Bags had items such as toys, hygiene supplies, blankets, and clothes as well as non-perishable food items.
